A classroom teacher for 25 years and a head of department for 10, Mary Tuson is one of the 3 national ‘Expert Subject Leaders’ for The National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM). Mary has also worked as a Secondary Mathematics Consultant for Lancashire LEA where she developed her skills as a trainer at a national and a local level. She has trained and recruited mathematics teachers for the Lancashire GTP programme for the last 8 years.
NQTs and non-specialist Maths teachers often struggle to tailor their lessons to different student needs while keeping an eye on progression –and maintaining a work-life balance. National Expert Subject leader Mary Tuson has been mentoring teachers new to secondary Mathematics for many years, and in this one day course she offers tips and advice on making the most of this most important first year.
